DeviceManager crashes while closing

Post by konrad » Mon Jul 22, 2019 4:50 pm

On closing the DeviceManager (deviceManager.Close())the whole program crashes and even some try...catch-code can't avoid the crash.
Funnily it also happens with your simple example (I didn't try the others).
It says (in german):
"VintaSoft TWAIN Simple Demo doesn't function no more. The program can't be executed because of a problem. The program will be closed and you will get noticed when there's a solution available."

The log doesn't tell anything at all:
"22.07.2019 15:09:17 88,035,328 Device is closing
22.07.2019 15:09:17 88,043,520 Device is disabling
22.07.2019 15:09:17 88,043,520 DeviceStateChanged Enabled => Opened
22.07.2019 15:09:17 85,733,376 DeviceStateChanged Opened => Closed
22.07.2019 15:09:28 85,745,664 Device manager is closing
22.07.2019 15:09:29 85,745,664 DeviceManagerStateChanged Opened => Loaded
22.07.2019 15:09:29 85,745,664 DeviceManagerStateChanged Loaded => Closed
22.07.2019 15:09:29 85,934,080 Device manager is closed
"

We are using the evaluate-version right now with Windows 7 64 bit.
We also have to switch the target-cpu of the application to x86, otherwise there appears an exception at the start when using your Dll.

Hello Konrad,

What scanner and TWAIN/WIA driver do you use?

Please try to acquire images from scanner using other application, for example Twacker (https://github.com/twain/twain-toolkit/ ... r/releases), and let me know results.

Best regards, Alexander

Hello Alexander,

I tried the TWAIN_32 Twacker (I downloaded the Twack_64.msi) and everything, including the closing, worked well.

In my application I only use your dll, that is Vintasoft.Twain.dll Version 10.3.7.3.
And it's only the closing of the DeviceManager that creates a problem, the scanning itself is fine.

By the way, the Twacker setup went into "Program Files", while your software went into "Program Files (x86)", although I downloaded the 64 bit-Version.

Kind regards
Konrad

...sorry, of course there is no explicit 64 bit version of your software to download (as far as I can see), I just expected it ;)

...and I'm using a "HP LaserJet CM1415fnw"-printer with the driver "HP LaserJet Professional CM1410 Series PCL 6 (61.103.10.8726)"

VintaSoft Twain .NET SDK provides DLLs and demos, which are compiled in AnyCPU, x86 and x64 mode.
AnyCPU demos can be found in folder "[InstallPath]\Bin\DotNet4\AnyCPU".
64-bit demos can be found in folder "[InstallPath]\Bin\DotNet4\x64".
32-bit demos can be found in folder "[InstallPath]\Bin\DotNet4\x32".

Thank you for information. You have provided information about printer driver but not information about TWAIN/WIA driver. What TWAIN/WIA driver do you use? You can get this information in device list if you will run any of our demos. Please try to renew TWAIN driver.

Also you ignored my request for testing your driver with Twacker, scanning application from TWAIN working group. Have you tested your device with Twacker?

Hello Alexander,

in my first (of 3) reply I answered about Twacker and the driver.

Sorry, I did not see your first answer.

VintaSoft Imaging .NET SDK has 32-bit installer so it installs SDK into "Program Files (x86)" folder. As I said before the installation has 32- and 64-bit DLLs and demos.

Could you debug demo in Visual Studio? If yes, please debug the demo and let me know which exception occurs and when exception occurs.

There is no regular exception.
As I said even with a try...catch it doesn't go into the catch-part, so that I could see what kind of exception it is. It just gives the message I wrote in the first mail and it just leaves the sub and ends the program.
It's not possible to get more info, which is strange...

Log-file shows that device is closed, device manager also is closed.

Please trace application step-by-step and check in which code line the error will occur. Can you do this?

Also you still not said me that TWAIN/WIA driver do you use. ???

Best regards, Alexander
