If you have Ricoh image scanner (for example Ricoh fi-8170) and you see "WIA-Not Friendly Name" device in the device list, you have "bad" Paperstream Twain driver for your Ricoh image scanner.

For using correct Paperstream Twain driver for your Ricoh image scanner please do the following steps:
  • Open the "Device Manager" in Windows settings and find the scanner under "Imaging Devices".
  • Right-click it and select "Disable device".
  • Right-click it again and select "Update driver".
  • Choose "Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list..."
  • Pick the specific model name (e.g., Ricoh fi-8170) instead of "USB Scanning Device."
  • Enable the device.
  • Reboot the PC and see the device list in your scanning application => The device list now contains "Paperstream" device instead of "WIA-Not Friendly Name" device.
